Brandon Sanderson’s visit was sponsored by
Brandon Sanderson spoke in Ogden on Saturday, October 8 at the Ogden High School Auditorium. This event was free to the public.
Brandon Sanderson’s first stop at Ogden High was a ‘high tea’ with the writing and art competition winners. The contest winners had personal time with Brandon and he signed books that were awarded as prizes for their work. From the left, Greg Steed, Benny Hinrichs, Robert Goodwin, Courtnee Goodwin, father and son writing team, Joshua and Jaxson Meyer, Davis Calder and Emma Stark with her father. Below, Gold winner in writing and art, Robert Goodwin and his wife, Courtnee talk with Brandon about writing.
Before Brandon gave his speech in the main auditorium, Patrick Murphy, one of the workshop presenters, conducted a fast-paced Sanderson trivia contest.
Brandon spoke to nearly 500 people in the newly restored Ogden High School Art Deco Auditorium, a National Trust for Historical Preservation award recipient.
There was a long line of autograph seekers after his talk that stretched up into the back of the auditorium. (Very dim light and slow camera speed).
The six scheduled workshops were very well attended. Here Emily Whitby talks about writing in her presentation of, ‘Beyond Brainstorming. Turing Gray Matter into Subject Matter.’ Below, Eleanor Olson gives her workshop on, ‘Fantasy Through the Ages.’
The QueenBee bookstore was selling Sanderson books and there was also a small but very adequate art show for visitors to see.
Our honored guest, Brandon Sanderson gives advice to David Calder, Student Writing, Silver Winner in the writing contest.
